Dear Friends of Godhra and neighboring communities:
Happy Diwali. We wish you all a very peaceful life filled with good health.
We are writing to share with you the expansion plan for Mirani Hospital of Godhra and request for your help in enabling this vision to come to life.
Background: Prabhudas T. Mirani (P. T. Mirani) Eye Hospital was established on Sep 04, 1988, with a generous donation of land from Dayalba Mirani in memory of her late husband P. T. Mirani to Sadvichar Parivar Trust, Ahmedabad (later moved to Sadvichar Parivar, Godhra). Sadvichar Parivar was founded by Shree Haribhai Panchal to support charity work in the Panchmahal district. Ishwarbhai Patel from Godhra donated Rs. 1.1 crore to build a medical unit in memory of his mother Sadaba Patel. Manibhai Patel donated Rs. II lacs to dedicate a lab in memory of his mother Kashiba. Originally established to provide eye care services, it has expanded to provide a spectrum of health care services over the last 36+ years including dialysis, obstetrics & gynecology, pathology, x-ray and sonography, dental, physical therapy and ambulatory. Also, a three-room Intensive Care Unit was opened during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Mirani Hospital also enables specialty care by bringing in specialized physicians from nearby Cities.
This hospital is managed under the leadership of Vinodbhai Shah and other volunteer trustees of Sadvichar Parivar, Godhra. Vinodbhai provided generous funding to add Gynecology and Dialysis Units and has spent countless hours over the years for the success of this organization. Mirani Hospital has become a key health care facility providing all medical care to the people of Panchmahal and surrounding districts esp. people from smaller villages.
Our Mission: To help improve the life of individuals and communities in need through education, career-training and healthcare assistance. Federal Tax ID 81-3469547
Project Details: Sadvichar Parivar is planning a multi-story expansion (approx. 8,000 SF) and upgrade Mirani hospital with state-of-the-art medical equipment to support the increasing demand for care.
Recently Harshadbhai Ratilal Desai purchased a large piece of land adjacent to the existing hospital and leased it to Sadvichar Parivar trust with nominal lease price of Rs. 5,000 per month (Approx. $60) for 98 years for expansion of this Hospital in memory of his beloved mother Savitaben. The new building is currently in the design and planning phase with the hopes of starting construction yet later this year.
- First floor: CT-Scan unit and nursing home (hospice care center). Expected to be operational in 2025.
- Second floor: Multiple operating rooms.
- Third and Fourth floors: Patient care rooms and rooms to accommodate other needs.
Financial Needs:
Building and Infrastructure: Building construction costs are estimated to be approx. Rs. 2 crore (funds-caneybeßonated-jn-lndian-rupees). Several community members have already made funding commitments/donations, including:
- Lataben Virendra Shah has committed Rs. 40 lacs for the first floor (Other-2 floors are still available for naming rights with similar donations) in memory of her mother Kalavatiben
- Sarojben Dharia of Mumbai has donated Rs. 20 lacs
- Sadvichard Parivar also has received more financial commitments for this project.
A donation to support building construction (in rupees) can be made through Sadvichar Parivar Trust in India; please contact Vinodbahi Shah, Udaybhai Vedanti or Vipinbhai Shah (see contact information below).
Medical-Equipment: Initial estimates for new medical equipment are Rs. 4 – 5 crore (approx. $600,000 and can be donated in foreign currency). The expanded facility will be equipped with modern operating rooms, a CT scan machine, and other state- of-the-art medical equipment.
While any and all support is welcome and appreciated, we are specifically looking to help with Mirani Hospital’s expansion efforts through a fundraising campaign to support equipment purchase and upgrade.
Our goal is to raise $750,000 in the next 12 months to enable the purchase of new medical equipment, update existing equipment and provide a contingency fund for on-going equipment needs. We believe we have 400-500 families from Godhra living in the USA. $750,000 may seem like a very large amount. However, if most families from our hometown donates generously, it is a very easily attainable goal. Encourage your grown-up children to donate and keep their roots alive. This is the power of collective effort and shared responsibility. Yes, we can do it. Together we can make a difference!!
Donations in US dollars can be made through the Parvati Foundation. Parvati Foundation has entered into an agreement with Mani Manek Foundation of Vadodara to transfer donated funds for medical and educational use. Mani Manek Foundation, an India-based non-profit organization, is approved by the Reserve Bank of India to receive foreign funds. Both the Mani Manek and Parvati Foundations are run by volunteer family members with minimal (under 0.5%) administrative cost. Additionally, Parvati Foundation also works with Rotary International to receive matching funds.
